Since this year is our first year in business and selling at tailgate markets, I am not yet aware of the cycles of vendors and customers…but, there are definite patterns. The month of October means the closing of a lot of tailgate markets in the western NC region. But, a few of them will stick around even until December. People are also not getting up as early as they used to. Seems like 10am is the new 8am. But, that’s okay…more time for me to wake up since I am not a morning person.
The Weaverville Tailgate Market’s last day will be October 27th, and they are expected to have a fun halloween themed scavenger hunt around the market. Both the Downtown City Market and the North Asheville Tailgate Market should run until December 18th (hope it doesn’t snow that weekend like it did in 2009).
With Autumn here, there will be less produce vendors each week and more ‘value-added’ vendors and crafters at the tailgate markets.
Here are some photos from Saturday’s market:
- our tent
- caramel apples
- caramel corn
- oh look, we still have chocolate covered strawberries
- local nc apples
- salmon from alaska (and, look at the girls all winterized!)
- some of the goodies available
- flowers are still available
- winter squash
- pumpkins!
- more pumpkins
- hmm…pizza
- local honey
- the market, early
- chilly morning. people must like to sleep in.
Hope everyone has a great week! And, remember, mornings are chilly – wear your jackets/hats/scarves/gloves when you come to shop at the market…we don’t want you getting sick. Cause then you will just want to sleep in on Saturday mornings and not come out to the tailgate market.

I have a great place where I get my cake boxes and cookie boxes. It’s Box and Wrap. Here’s their link. Hope you find it helpful.http://www.boxandwrap.com/pastrybox.html
